Happy Birthday Susie (aka Aunt Sue Sue & OLD LADY)

Today was my OLDER sister Susie's birthday. (You know I'm just joking with you Susie right?) Anyway, she turned the big 4-0! Hard to believe. Honestly, I don't think she looks 40. We surprised her with a party at The Melting Pot. It was a really fun place to have a party! Take a look at the pics I posted on Facebook (you don't have to be a member to view these photos).

I Love Saving Money!

Ok Susie, this is yet another post about coupons and saving money so you don't have to read on. :) (For everyone else, I asked Susie if she read my blog the other day and she said, "Oh if it was about coupons no." Made me laugh.)

Anyway, wanted to report this awesome deal I got this week.

Bought my Olay moisturizer (which normally runs me $30+ at Sam's). Here's the deal:

Olay Definity Moisturizer - 24.99
Olay Total Effects Moisturizer - 18.99
Olay Total Effects Cleanser - 9.99
Manufacturer Coupon - 9.99
Manufacturer Coupon - 1.00
Manufacturer Coupon - 1.00

Paid 41.98, GOT 10.00 CVS bucks to use (which I actually used on the 2nd transaction so I really only paid 31.98)

Rebate - $20.00

BOTTOM LINE - Got two moisturizers and one cleanser for 11.98!

Great Birthday Gift Idea

Found this awesome deal on one of my favorite coupon sites (http://thekrazycouponlady.com/).

Make a purchase at The Company Store/Company Kids. Spend $20, receive $20 off your purchase. Enter the code SLUMBER for the discount.

Here's what I did. I bought a beach towel, with FREE monogramming, for my niece. It was originally $22.00. Shipping is 5.95. After the coupon I paid a total of $7.95 for a monogrammed beach towel (shipping included)! I'm going to give it to her for her birthday. (Hopefully she doesn't already have one!)

I was debating whether or not to get it for Claire or for my niece since Brett already has one but I decided to be practical and get it for a gift rather than just something I wanted. How can you beat a gift like that for $7.95?!?

The Kraziness Continues!

I've been using coupons like krazy for about 2 weeks now. I won't lie, it's a lot of work. But, it's also fun (in a strange kinda of way) and rewarding. Today at Hy-Vee I got two bottles of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce for FREE! Yes - FREE! I also got Cocoa Pebbles for $0.98 a box. I'll have to go through my receipts and list some of my really great deals. I'm really focusing on buying the stuff we need/use a lot when it's a really good deal and also buying the stuff that we don't use as often when it's dirt cheap, free, or will basically give you money back (through a rebate or register rewards). I'll write more on another day about all this. Right now I've got to get to work so I can earn money!

Before I do that though I need to get some paper from Staples. Check out this really cool deal: http://pennypinchinmom.com/2010/04/staples-2-cases-of-paper-for-as-little-as-3-05-tax-shipped/ If you use a lot of paper (like I do) this is a really good deal. Plus, if you sign up for the Shop at Home site (and use my email as your referral) we both get a $5 credit! Easy money.

Krazy Coupon Lady

Ok, so I'm going to try to become a Krazy Coupon Lady. Check out this site: http://thekrazycouponlady.com/. It basically tells you how to use your coupons along with store ads/sales to save the most you can on your groceries. I'm going to try it and see how much I can save. I've been trying to just buy what I need/when I need it in order to save money. But, with this plan, you buy stuff in bulk and stock up while getting it at very low prices.

So, in order to do this, I'm going to need your help. This site recommends buying 4-6 copies of the Sunday paper to get multiple copies of the coupons in the Sunday paper. Rather than doing that, I'm asking for your help. If you get the Sunday paper and aren't interested in being a Krazy Coupon Lady, or if you do clip coupons but not all of them, I'd love to have your leftovers. Send me an email and I'll set up a time to come each week and get your coupons.

A Visit to Deanna Rose

We went to Deanna Rose today after school. The weather was perfect and the kids had a lot of fun watching the animals. Brett got to feed the baby goats a bottle. Claire loved being in with the baby goats even more than Brett. Below is a link to pictures from our fun day.

And now I'm off to cook dinner. Claire should be napping but is crying and I really don't want to cook anything.

February POTD (final pictures added)

Easter is almost here!

We've been busy around the Jordan household lately. Lots of Easter activities going on. Right now we're getting ready to leave to go to Downtown Overland Park's Spring Egg Trail. We're going to have Chris Cakes' pancakes for lunch and then get clues from downtown merchants for eggs. We'll see how it goes. We've told Brett it's a surprise day. When we get home the plan is to color Easter eggs. Last weekend on Saturday Ann and I took the kids to see the Easter Bunny at Crown Center. On Sunday Ann and Lance took the kids to an egg hunt at Leawood Park. Lance was working on Saturday, I was volunteering at a consignment sale on Sunday - thus Aunt Annie was the surrogate parent! Brett has his Easter Egg Hunt at school this week as well.

Spring Break!

It's Spring Break! I started off the day by making a list of all the things I need to do. I think it's up to 22. The first thing I decided to tackle was cleaning out the basement. I wasn't sure how well this was going to go with Claire but I decided to risk it since the basement was a disaster area and really needed a good cleaning. She did really well. She was so excited to be in a new place, playing with new toys. She walked around the basement, carrying a new toy every time. Brett did really well too. He played with his train tracks - something he hasn't done in a long time. Then he played with play-doh, yet another thing he hasn't played with since we moved! I got through all the boxes I wanted to and started a few piles - garage sale, donate, storage. It felt so good to get it all organized. I guess that's one thing I can cross off my list!

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 35. It's hard to believe that I'm 35. That seems so grown up. I had a good day. Lance and Brett surprised me by cooking me pancakes for breakfast (apparently this was Brett's idea). Then Lance took the day off work and I ran errands by myself after I dropped Brett off at school. This may not seem like much, but when you're used to having two kids in tow- this was a nice break.

Claire decided to start walking. She's taken a few steps here and there up to this point, but yesterday she was actually walking for several steps and she did it quite a bit. So I'm counting this as her official day (Lance says it's when she took her first actual steps - which was on my dad's birthday - Jan 8th - but I'm not!). She was so adorable when she was doing it. I'd say, "Good walking Claire" and she'd scrunch up her nose and smile real big.

Then Aunt Annie came over and watched the kids so we could go to the Melting Pot for dinner. YUM.

Today my mom and sister's took Claire and I out to lunch to celebrate our birthdays. We went to Cheddar's - a new restaurant next to Oak Park Mall. It was pretty good. Brett actually ate some chicken fingers and said they were good. My parents and sisters got me a Canon Elph for my purse. So very generous of them. I love it!!!! My sister Susie also got me two cookbooks and some lottery tickets (very excited about these - the cookbooks mainly!). My parents got me some lottery tickets and a gift card (excited again). And my other sister Ann got me some more lottery tickets. Out of all the tickets I got, I won $33.00. Not bad I guess.

Tomorrow is Clara Bell's birthday. It's hard to believe it's been a year since she was born. I miss the tiny little baby that I held in my arms a year ago, but I also love the little person she is becoming. She looks more and more like Brett everyday - something that has surprised and delighted me. She is becoming so affectionate - giving hugs to people. She's a great eater although she only has two teeth (one top and one bottom). She's very inquisitive and is not happy when she's not allowed to investigate. She is such a blessing, as is Brett.
